Adam Ohlson

Adam was born in Chicago but grew up in the beautiful town of Hood River Oregon. He has been studying music since he was eight. He holds a BA in music with a three track emphasis in classical piano performance, jazz performance, and composition from Whitworth University and a Masters in Jazz Studies from University of Northern Colorado.  Ohlson composes and arranges regularly, and has won the Whitworth Concerto competition in 2011 with his symphony “From the Sands of the Sea”. He has written multiple choral works, works for solo piano, chamber ensembles, vocal trio and quartet, and has scored various short films, winning awards for the “best soundtrack” at the Mt. Hood Film Festival. Many of his jazz compositions and arrangements were performed by the University of Northern Colorado’s award winning “Birdland” Combo as well as Whitworth University’s Jazz Ensemble. His most recent big band composition “Musemojic” was performed on tour with the U.S Air Force Academy Band Falconaires. Prior to joining the U.S. Airforce Academy Band, Ohlson traveled the world visiting over sixty countries while performing in various bands of the Holland America and Seabourn Cruise lines. In addition to music, he spends his time hiking, biking, and snowboarding. He also currently competes in ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and just about any sport for which he can find a league.
